Polly Gone Wrong

Moteh Parrott is an Edinburgh-based alternative indie-folk artist from the Highlands via Africa.

Born in Cameroon to parents working in rainforest conservation and given the local name ‘Mnkongmoteh’, his music complements Celtic-infused guitars and cello with lyrics of hope and healing. The result has been likened to “a Highland wilderness with all the sweeping colour and spirit which that encompasses”.

Shortlisted for BBC Radio Scotland’s Singer-Songwriter of the Year Award, Moteh released his debut album last September, which was recorded at Chem19 studios with Paul Savage, producer of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and King Creosote, among other renowned Scottish artists. The album features collaborations with Rachel Sermanni, Ryan Young, and Nicky Murray.

‘The Stones are Merely Sleeping’ has gained BBC Introducing radio play, as well as significant local radio play and press, and earned the band a slot at Greenman Festival 2024, Celtic Connections, and a main stage slot at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
